About This Call
ON EDGE is an annual juried exhibition of contemporary work by Colorado artists. EDGE Gallery has exhibited groundbreaking contemporary art for 30 years and has been instrumental in presenting important experimental work in the region. All artists residing in Colorado are invited to submit their work.
The show is open to contemporary art of any medium, with an emphasis on work that challenges the margins of material, content, artistic process, and technology. The merits and definition of "contemporary" will be defined by the juror. This year, Gwen Chanzit will jury the 2018 show. Dr. Chanzit is Curator Emerita of Modern Art and the Herbert Bayer Collection and Archive at the Denver Art Museum, and Professor of the Practice and Director of Museum Studies in Art History at the University of Denver. Over her 36-plus years at the DAM, she organized more than 30 exhibitions, including Figure to Field, Mark Rothko in the 1940s, Herbert Bayer: Berlin Graphics 1928-1938, Fracture: Cubism and After, Joan Miró: Instinct and Imagination, and Women of Abstract Expressionism. She holds a Ph.D. in art history and is regarded as the world expert on Bauhaus artist Herbert Bayer.
Entry fee is $35.00. Submit 1-3 work samples (images, audio, or video). The Juror's Choice Award of $200 will be presented at the Meet the Juror artist reception on May 12. Drop-off dates are April 22-23 at EDGE Gallery, 7001 W. Colfax, Lakewood, CO 80214. The opening reception and show run April 27 through May 13. Pick-up dates are May 13-15. Artists will be notified on April 13.
