About This Call
The City of Oldsmar, Florida, is soliciting artists and design professionals to submit qualifications for creating and installing a permanent outdoor public art feature for the Oldsmar Sports Complex, located at 3120 Tampa Road, Oldsmar 34677. The selected art piece should reflect Oldsmar's uniqueness and be interactive, allowing spectators to walk in, on, or around the piece, or to become part of the artwork. The Oldsmar Sports Complex is a 45-acre multi-sport facility with high pedestrian traffic, home to an internationally known BMX Supercross track and facilities for baseball, softball, football, soccer, and inline hockey. The public art feature must be durable and meet all applicable ordinances and regulations.
Interested artists will submit a portfolio of work through CaFE. A selection committee will review submissions and select three finalists to submit site-specific proposals. Finalists will be paid $250 each for their site-specific design and proposal presentation. Final proposals will be posted online for public feedback before the committee makes the final selection. The selected artist or team will receive a budget of $38,000 on a turnkey basis, which includes all costs for proposals, materials, permits, engineering/inspectors, fabrication, installation, artist commission, and travel.
Submissions must include: a portfolio of 3-20 media samples (up to 6 may be audio or video), a current resume (one per team member if applicable), a one-page letter of interest highlighting approach to public art and relevant experience, an annotated image list, and at least three professional references. All artists must own the copyright of submitted materials. The entry deadline is August 31, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Questions must be submitted in writing by August 12, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. EST to [email protected].
