Old Town Coppell Public Art Exhibit

The Coppell Arts Council invites sculpture submissions for the Old Town Coppell Public Art Exhibit. This call prefers entries from artists working in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi who are 18 years of age or older. Other entries will be considered if artists can ensure delivery to the site during August 30th - September 30th. Up to 10 professional sculptures will be selected and awarded a $1,800 honorarium. Sculptures must be appropriate for public viewing, support family and community-oriented values, and be safe for a public setting. All materials must withstand harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance. Sculptures are owned by the artist and loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period. Large, monumental sculptures are encouraged.

Submissions are evaluated through a juried selection process based on artistic merit, public safety, appropriateness, durability outdoors, and creativity. Artists working in mixed media, stone, brass, and metal are encouraged, as are both abstract and figurative styles. Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces. Submissions must include one photo per artwork with title, year created, dimensions, and purchase price. Built pieces only; concepts will not be considered.

The sculpture pad is 8 inches thick concrete, 4 feet by 4 feet square. Artists must provide all fasteners and hardware to attach artwork to concrete pads. The City of Coppell will provide a lift and labor to help place the sculpture and install fasteners. Any installation equipment beyond a forklift must be supplied by the artist. Artists are responsible for delivering work to the site during August 30th - September 15th, 2025, and picking up artwork between August 30th - September 30th, 2025. Early pickup is not permitted unless a sculpture is sold. Works may be listed for sale during exhibition; the Coppell Arts Council receives a 20% commission on sales, and artists may replace sold installations with another CAC-approved piece. During exhibition, artwork is covered by the City of Coppell's insurance policy. Artists are responsible for works before fasteners are installed and after they are removed. Entry fee: $15.
