About This Call

The Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management and the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Public Art Program in partnership with Ogden-Weber Technical College requests qualifications from artists and/or artist teams interested in creating exterior site-specific artwork(s) for the upcoming Ogden-Weber Technical College Pathway Building. The Pathway Building will provide a consolidated location for additional classroom spaces and vital student services, with a unique design inspired by stepping stones connected by a central atrium pathway.

The Art Selection Committee seeks exterior artwork that responds to the campus culture of Ogden-Weber Technical College, focusing on an accessible, grounded aesthetic. They welcome art that reflects local identity and heritage, is visually grounded and straightforward, integrates with the industrial-modern aesthetic of the building or natural landscape, and honors the working-class spirit and resilience of students. The artwork should be reflective of the nearby Wasatch Mountain range and tributes to Ogden's history and vibrant community. The artwork's subject matter must be appropriate for public exhibition and not contain advertising, religious references, sexual or violent content, or convey political partisanship.

$155,000 is available for the project budget, covering all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, support structures, insurance, shipping, travel, lighting, installation, and documentation. Professional artists and artist teams based in the United States are eligible, with Utah artists receiving additional weight in the review process. Semi-finalists will be asked to present full proposals on March 17, 2026, and will receive an honorarium to help defray proposal development costs. Complete application packages must be received by December 23, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. MT.
