About This Call
The Ogden Honors College at Louisiana State University is seeking professional artists to create a permanent exterior sculptural project/installation at the French House, a National Register of Historic Places landmark. The artwork will serve as a beacon and gathering place at the entryway to the Honors College and should be consistent with the college's vision to engage diverse populations of high-achieving students in outstanding instruction, innovative research, and public service.
The Ogden Honors College is a 10-acre residential college community located at the heart of LSU's main campus, combining historic architecture, cultural significance, and modern renovation. The commission is open to professional artists 18 and over with a minimum of five years of demonstrated professional visual art experience. Artist teams may apply with one designated lead contact. The project budget is $125,000, inclusive of all costs including research, consultations, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, and documentation.
Submissions must include a chronological resume (4 pages max per team member), letter of interest and artist statement, three professional references, and six images of original completed commissions demonstrating qualifications. Images must be JPG or PNG format (maximum 5MB per image, 30MB total) and include title, medium, dimensions, project budget, year completed, location, and description. Work samples must be original completed commissions, not proposals or conceptual projects. Finalists will be invited to a mandatory site visit and optional in-person presentation. An honorarium of up to $1,500 will be paid to finalists. Notifications will be issued no later than January 2020. Special consideration will be given to Louisiana artists.
