October National 2020

October National 2020 is a national juried competition open to all artists 18 years old and over. Entries must be original design with no giclee or other mechanical reproductions. Work must be executed within the last two years.

All media accepted. Wall-hung or 2D artwork must be framed or gallery wrapped, wired, ready to hang, and not exceed 60 inches wide or 96 inches high. 3D artwork must be self-standing or fit on a 36x36 inch pedestal. All artwork must be able to be handled by one person and cannot be suspended from the ceiling. Any accessories needed for display must be included. Pedestals are provided by the gallery.

Entry fee is $30 for up to 3 pieces, with 2 images per piece allowed (including a second angle or detail). Artwork is juried by photographs or jpeg/pdf files submitted on CD, by email, or online through CaFE. Accepted work is due at Gallery 510 by September 19, 2020. The opening reception is October 2 at Madden Arts Center, Anne Lloyd Gallery, with the exhibit closing October 29 at 4:30 p.m. Hand-delivered work pickup is October 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gallery 510, 160 E. Main St., Decatur, IL 62523. Shipped work will be returned by November 14.

Judge is Jamie Kotewa, BFA from Millikin University and Masters of Arts from Purdue University, currently full-time art faculty at Spoon River College. Awards include $300 Best of Show, $200 1st Place in 2D, $150 2nd Place in 2D, $100 3rd Place in 2D, $50 Juror's Choice in 2D, $200 1st Place in 3D, $150 2nd Place in 3D, $100 3rd Place in 3D, $50 Juror's Choice in 3D, and $100 Breast Cancer Awareness Award. A 50% commission will be taken on work sold. Artwork does not need to be for sale. Notification of acceptance will be sent by August 1.
