Ocala MCA Awning Mural

The City of Ocala Cultural Arts Office is seeking entries for an awning mural to be located on the south-facing awning of the Brick City Center for the Arts at 23 SW Broadway St, Ocala, FL. The mural will cover removable awning panels with a break in the middle for the keystone. The project will be on display for two years in Downtown Ocala.

The awning is approximately 48" x 60" and made of aluminum. The artwork's design must be monochromatic using Pantone Green RAL5018 – Turquoise blue. Materials must withstand high traffic, public environments, and adverse Florida weather conditions including high UV exposure, humidity, heavy rain, and high winds. The mural must be capable of withstanding washing and maintenance for graffiti removal. The selected artist or team will receive a $2,000 honorarium to cover transportation, lodging, panel preparation, installation, final clear coating, materials, labor, and all other costs associated with artwork installation. Payment will be made half upon contract execution and half upon completion and final approval by the City.

This call is open to artists with experience in mural work within the Florida area. Submissions must include a complete rendering in jpg format (minimum 180ppi), a written description of the concept, at least three images of past mural projects, and a Word document with name, address, phone number, and email. Submission deadline: 5 pm, Monday, March 1, 2021. Notification of acceptance will be sent Friday, March 5, 2021. Work is anticipated to begin in late-March 2021.
