About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist or artist team for the design and installation of a sculpture to be located at the Oasis Water Plant. The project must focus on water education and the Oasis Reuse Program in the City.
The theme centers on water education with special focus on the Oasis Reuse Program, which delivers all water through purple pipes throughout the City. The selected artist must create a sculpture using the theme of purple pipes, with the purple matching Pantone 522C. The sculpture must be sufficient in size to command attention from the roadway. Materials, design, and palette must withstand local weather and be amenable to ongoing maintenance.
The exact location has not been selected but will be outside the premises of the Oasis Water Plant at 1799 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, 33060. Artists may provide other location options but must consider land requirements, code, and restrictions. The selected artist will receive $30,000.00, which includes all taxes, insurance, and other fees. The artist is responsible for professional installation, engineering designs/specs, permits, and ensuring the artwork meets hurricane resistant wind loads. The City is responsible for the slab. Artists must obtain all necessary permits prior to fabrication and installation and ensure code compliance. Commercial General Liability Coverage with a minimum of $1,000,000, naming the City of Pompano Beach as additionally insured, is required. The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. Artists are not eligible if they are immediate family or business partners of members of the Public Art Committee or program staff. Submit 3-6 images of work samples.
