About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist or artist team for the design and installation of a sculpture to be located at the Oasis Water Plant. The sculpture should reflect on water, the reuse of water, nature, and the Oasis Reuse Program in the City. The selected artist will receive $30,000.00, which includes all taxes, insurance, and other fees.
The project theme centers on the Oasis Reuse Program, where reused and filtered water is delivered through purple pipes throughout the City for irrigation. The sculpture should reflect on water, reuse, conservation, and nature. An aspect of purple pipes should be included, though not necessarily as physical pipes. The color purple must be incorporated and match Pantone 522C. The sculpture must be sufficient in size to command attention from the roadway and must withstand local weather conditions and ongoing maintenance.
The exact location has not been selected but will be outside the premises of the Oasis Water Plant at 1799 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, 33060. Artists may provide other location options but must consider land requirements, code, and restrictions. The artist is responsible for professional installation, engineering designs/specifications, permits, and ensuring the artwork meets hurricane-resistant wind loads. The City is responsible for the slab on which the artwork will be installed. Applicants may submit 3-6 images. Eligibility is open to national artists.
