About This Call
The City of Fort Collins, Colorado, Art in Public Places Program is seeking submissions to select an artist or artist team to collaborate with the project team to identify locations for art along the streetscape and develop concepts to integrate site-specific artworks into the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project. The project runs along Oak Street from Jackson Avenue to Mason Street in downtown Fort Collins and includes streetscape enhancements, multi-purpose transportation, and green infrastructure. The art project budget is estimated at $150,000. All costs associated with the public art project, including consulting fees, design, structural engineering, fabrication, transportation, site preparation, and installation, shall be an approximate amount up to $150,000.
The Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project is the first of five major stormwater projects in the Downtown Stormwater Improvement Plan, designed to address flood risk and improve stormwater quality in downtown Fort Collins. The selected artist/team will work with the project team to identify locations for art and develop integrated site-specific concepts, then create a detailed proposal, budget, and timeline. Final approval is required from the APP Board and Fort Collins City Council. Depending on the final design and materials, the artist may be awarded the contract to fabricate the project.
Eligibility is open to artists and artist teams who are at least 18 years of age and legally residing in and authorized to work in the United States. Artists/teams must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with the project's design team. All media appropriate to the project will be considered. Applicants must consider long-term conservation and maintenance of public art, timeline, and budget. The work is intended to be a permanent addition to the City of Fort Collins and will be situated in a public location subject to the elements and potential vandalism. Application materials include a 3,000 character letter of intent, current resume (maximum 2 pages), three professional references with contact information, and six digital images of relevant work completed within the past ten years. Images must include artist names, title, date, media, dimensions, location, and cost of artwork.
