NWS-Canada (CSPWC) Exchange: Visions Adjoin

NWS and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC) are hosting a juried exchange exhibition. Sixty paintings will be exhibited representing the two national societies, with 30 paintings from each organization. The first exhibition will be held at the National Watercolor Society Gallery in the United States, followed by the second part of the exchange at the Helson Gallery in Canada. Exhibition dates are February 6 – July 18, 2020, with the NWS exhibition running February 6 – April 17 and the CSPWC exhibition running June 10 – July 18.

Eligibility is limited to NWS Signature Members in good standing, residing in the USA and up-to-date with membership. Artists may submit one image only. Artwork must be painted in watermedia (watercolor paint, gouache, acrylic, crayon, pencil, pens, ink, egg tempera, casein, water-based metallic paints, graphite drawing, and India ink are allowed). Work must be original, not produced in a class or workshop, and must comply with the half sheet size requirement (22 inches x 15 inches, portrait or landscape). Allowable surfaces include watercolor paper, Yupo, and Tyvek. Collage is accepted only using artist-created elements; machine patterns, added objects, and computer-generated or manipulated work will not be accepted. There are no restrictions on year of completion or previous exhibition history.

The entry fee is $40.00 (non-refundable), payable via PayPal or credit card. Entry deadline is September 30, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted artists will be notified by email on October 14. Selected artwork must be shipped to arrive at the NWS Gallery by January 10, 2020. Paintings will be matted and framed by each society and must remain available for the duration of both exhibitions. Paintings will be returned to NWS artists in August 2020. NWS and its representatives are not responsible for damage or loss; artists are responsible for insuring their paintings. Awards include a Certificate of Exhibition Participation, and catalogues will be available for purchase.
