About This Call

Skagit Artists, a 501(c)(3) corporation, invites artists from Skagit, Island, San Juan, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties to participate in the 15th annual NW Art Beat Open Studios Tour. This is a free, self-guided tour of Skagit County art studios featuring juried artists from these five counties, showcasing local talent and providing the public an insider view of working studios.

Art must be shown in a working studio located in Skagit County that is appropriate for public visitation. If you do not have a suitable studio in Skagit County, you may request to be hosted by another artist as part of your application. If your application is accepted and a suitable studio is not available, all fees will be refunded. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work and space. Galleries or other rented spaces will not be accepted; however, active working studios that share space with a gallery may be included if work is presented in the studio space itself.

The tour takes place July 21-22, 2018, from 10am to 6pm. The non-refundable application fee is $35 for both members and non-members. If invited to participate, the participation fee is $175 for Skagit Artists members and $250 for non-members, plus a refundable sign fee. Participation fees must be paid by March 15, 2018. Members can offset participation fees through sponsorship donations (50 cents refunded per sponsorship dollar obtained by March 31, 2018). Membership costs $55 annually and must be obtained prior to the application deadline to qualify for member rates.

Applicants must submit 3 JPEG images representing actual work that will be offered for sale. All participants are expected to attend 3-4 planning meetings, distribute brochures and posters, put out signs, and contribute 10-20 hours of support work. Notifications of accepted artists will be sent on or before February 20, 2018. For questions, contact [email protected].
