About This Call
Current art and media students from Southern California colleges and universities are invited to submit engaging new work to the Palos Verdes Art Center's Alpay Scholarship Exhibition, Now Trending. One $5,000 cash prize will be awarded to the scholarship winner, who will also be considered for inclusion in future PVAC exhibitions. This call is open to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students.
Due to COVID-19 mandates, Now Trending will exhibit exclusively online at pvartcenter.org. All media will be considered, including but not limited to: Painting, Drawing, Printing, Sculpture, Glass, Ceramics, Fiber Art, Photography, Video, Film, VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality), Installation Art, Performance Art, Sound Art, and Mixed Media. Up to three submissions are permitted with no submission fee.
The juror is Dennis Keeley, former chair of the Photography and Imaging Program at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Keeley is an artist, photographer, teacher, and writer whose photographs have been exhibited internationally and are held in the permanent collections of LACMA, MOCA, and the J. Paul Getty Center Trust, among others. Exhibition dates are June 11 – July 10, 2021. Since 1998, The Beverly G. Alpay Memorial Education Fund has provided almost $200,000 in funds to support the artistic journey of talented artists from high school students to working professionals.
