About This Call
Now or Neverland: Urban Uproar is a collective of local, national, and international visual artists presenting works that reflect the dynamic process of forging cultural identity. Urban Uproar explores the harmonious sound of city chaos through themes of politics, climate, food, migration, and economy where urban voices play a central role. Artists weave stories of migrants, hustlers, CEOs, politicians, and children, finding a unifying rhythm in Now or Neverland and its adventures in Urban Surrealism.
Submissions must be made through Call for Entry (www.callforentry.org). Artists may submit 1-20 images. If developing new work specifically for this exhibition, include a short concept description with sketches. For media submissions, email a Dropbox or Vimeo link to [email protected]. There is no size limit; site-specific installations, videos, or performances should include links to current and past work. The non-refundable submission fee is $75. Notification of acceptance is Monday, September 16, 2016.
Accepted works must be delivered between November 13-19, 2016 and picked up no later than Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Each accepted entry must be installation-ready, framed or encased with appropriate hanging hardware and installation instructions, clearly labeled with artist name and work title. A $10 installation/hanging fee applies for each work accepted. The exhibition runs December 1-4, 2016, with an opening reception on Thursday, December 1. Accepted work may not be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition. MUCE will have event liability insurance and the area will be under 24-hour surveillance during Art Basel. The gallery may photograph work for the catalogue and use images to publicize and promote the exhibition and future exhibitions.
