Not Just Set In Stone

Studio Montclair seeks entries for Not Just Set In Stone, a sculpture exhibition at Studio Montclair's Leach Gallery, 641 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ, running November 14 to December 12, 2025. The exhibition is open to all fine artists internationally. The juror is Mary Birmingham, an independent curator based in Montclair with extensive curatorial experience including positions at the Whitney Museum, Montclair Art Museum, Hunterdon Art Museum, and Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.

Entry fees are $37 for Studio Montclair members and $42 for non-members, covering up to 3 works. Additional works cost $5 each, with a maximum of 5 works per artist. Artists may submit up to 3 JPEG views per work, with files at minimum 1600 pixels on the longest side. Sculpture must be free-standing or wall-hung only; ceiling-hung work is not accepted. Work must have been completed within the past 5 years and cannot have been previously shown in any SMI exhibition. Specifications: 3D work maximum 4 feet in any direction; 3D wall work maximum 4 feet in any direction with maximum 12 inch depth and not to exceed 30 lbs; floor installation maximum 36 x 36 x 72 inches high and not to exceed 100 lbs. Studio Montclair has a limited number of pedestals and may ask artists to supply their own.

Notification of acceptance will be sent the week of September 22, 2025. The opening reception and cash awards presentation is Friday, November 14, 6-8pm. Hand delivery of artwork is available Friday, October 31, 4-7pm and Sunday, November 2, 10am-1pm. Pickup of unsold artwork is Friday, December 12, 5-7pm and Saturday, December 13, 10am-1pm. Studio Montclair does not provide insurance for artwork in transit or on display; artists should insure their work if necessary. A 30% donation is retained by SMI on all sales. Studio Montclair reserves the right to photograph and use accepted work for documentation, website, publicity, social media, and catalog purposes.
