About This Call
The 2013 MAC Art Auction is a juried silent and live auction event held at the Davenport Hotel, immediately following a gala dinner. Artists are encouraged to submit multiple works of two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork, including watercolors, oils, photography, acrylics, drawings, collage, digital art, bronzes, sculptures, and carvings. Artists must establish a reserve price (minimum selling price) for their work.
For the silent auction portion, the MAC Art Auction Committee suggests a retail price range of $120 to $2,000 with a reserve price of $60 to $1,100. For the live auction portion, the suggested retail price range is $1,000 to $5,000 with a reserve price of $500 to $3,500. All proceeds benefit Art Operations at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture. Artists whose work is accepted and who donate 100% of proceeds to the museum receive a complimentary $100 ticket to the dinner and auction event.
The event will be marketed through Northwest regional publications, and a high-quality catalogue showcasing accepted works will be produced and mailed to auction attendees. Artists may place advertisements in the auction catalog. Christopher D. Bruce, Director of the Washington State University Museum of Art, serves as juror. Bruce previously worked as senior curator at Seattle's Henry Art Gallery for 15 years, director of Meyerson & Nowinski Gallery in Seattle's Pioneer Square, and director of curatorial and collections at Experience Music Project in Seattle. He also served as president of Seattle Art Museum's Contemporary Arts Council.
Submissions should include 1-6 images. Application deadline: July 31, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
