About This Call
Northwest Expressions is Northwind Art's annual juried exhibition of work by artists 16 years of age or older from Washington and Oregon. This year's theme is Potluck Banquet, organized around the idea of "everything you would bring to a delicious, abundant meal, created with your friends portrayed in your paintings, photography, and sculpture." The exhibition welcomes work depicting food items, dishes, glassware, silverware, picnic baskets, and community meal scenes. Potluck Banquet is open to all media, including two- and three-dimensional work, jewelry, and photography. Entries must be original, entirely the work of the entrant, and executed within the last three years.
A maximum of three entries may be submitted per artist. The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 entries. Submitted digital images should represent the quality and nature of the work; artists must submit one image per artwork showing it in its entirety. All artwork must be hand delivered and picked up in person; no shipped work will be accepted. Artwork will be juried online by Suzanne Lamon and Frank Samuelson, who will judge the quality and creative voice of the work. Final selections will reflect a variety of media, techniques, and styles. No "not-for-sale" entries will be accepted.
Awards include one $500 Juror's Choice Award, three $300 Juror's Merit Awards, and one $150 People's Choice Award. Selected work will be exhibited at Northwind Art's Jeanette Best Gallery in downtown Port Townsend. Artists will be notified by email on August 4. Drop-off dates are August 22-25, 12pm-5pm PDT. The exhibition opens August 28 at 12pm with awards announced. A public reception is scheduled for September 6, 5pm-8pm PDT. The exhibition closes October 13 at 5pm. Unsold artwork pickup is October 16-20, 12pm-5pm PDT. Should work sell, Northwind Art will pay 50% of the retail selling price. All artwork must be suitably framed or display-ready at time of delivery.
