About This Call

The City of Frisco Public Art Program is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ #2505-086) for a public art opportunity at Northwest Community Park, located at 14350 Teel Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034. The park features 120 acres of restored and enhanced Blackland Prairie with miles of trails, playgrounds, splash pads, plazas, and gardens. The artist chosen will be commissioned to create public art in two parts: a large iconic artwork in the Welcome Plaza or Discovery Garden areas, and a smaller, related artwork in the Prairie area that encourages exploration.

Applications must be submitted online via www.callforentry.org by 11:59 p.m. CDT on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Required submissions include a cover letter, artist resume with current contact information, artist statement, three references with contact details, and no more than 15 images of past work (with the first five being most relevant to this RFQ). The Artist Selection Committee will evaluate qualifications based on demonstrated excellence of past work, quality of professional qualifications and relevant experience, stated interest and approach specific to the project, and ability to create work meeting project goals. Three finalists will be chosen to create design concepts for further review.

The Northwest Community Park public art budget is $324,580 all-inclusive, covering artist fee, fabrication costs, transportation, insurance, engineering services, permit fees, site prep, installation, and related expenses. Finalists will receive $3,000 per artist or artist team for design concepts. The public art should represent the site, be safe and hazard-free, use low-maintenance durable materials resistant to vandalism, and be installed by Fall 2026. Questions should be submitted to Stephen Ross at [email protected] by 4:00 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 13, 2025.
