About This Call
Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF), acting on behalf of the City of Northglenn, invites proposals from artists (individual or teams) to design, fabricate, and install a hanging sculpture in the new Parsons Theatre lobby in Northglenn, CO. This is an indoor public art commission for a site-specific, permanent art installation with a budget of up to $135,000.
The Parsons Theatre features a large two-story lobby with south-facing glass windows. The large-scale sculpture will hang from the ceiling as an artistic centerpiece. Lighting will be included in the design, either as the sculpture being the source of light or illuminating the sculpture. The selected artist or team will coordinate closely with the architects (Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture). Proposals should include a portfolio of past work, details of similar projects, and an outline of the design, fabrication, and installation process. Design, materials, fabrication, installation, travel, and all other project costs must fit within the $135,000 budget.
The winner will be selected by January 31, 2020. Design work is scheduled for Spring 2020, with fabrication and installation in Summer/Fall 2020, and project completion by December 2020. Proposals will be reviewed by site stakeholders including NAHF members, Northglenn residents, and City staff. Finalists will be required to interview in-person or online. Submissions must include 3-5 images and up to 1 video (portfolio only via CaFE). Contact Director Michael Stricker at [email protected] or (303) 450-8727 for additional information.
