About This Call
Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) invites proposals from artists (individual or teams) to design, fabricate, and install artwork for the Don Animas Memorial Skate Park in E. B Rains Jr. Memorial Park in Northglenn. The skate park, designed by nationally-known skate park designers Team Pain, will include approximately 15,000 square feet of concrete surface with skating bowls and numerous other skating features. The specific area to be designed is the "clamshell" portion of the new skate park.
Artists may propose artwork in any medium that is sufficiently durable, safe and appropriate for this high-use, high-visibility outdoor location. Submitted designs must cover an area 5 feet tall, 7 feet deep, and 18 feet round (in the shape of a bowl). The image will go on the inside of the "clamshell" that is part of the skateable area of the park. Artists must submit the medium, materials, and application technique to be used to create a durable installation of the image. The selected artist will receive $5,000 and will design and assist in the installation of the artwork. Team Pain will collaborate in the installation during the build. Travel costs up to $2,500 will be covered by NAHF.
Images must be unique and free from copyright restrictions. All works will be screened to ensure artistic merit and appropriateness for outdoor display. A committee of City employees, local youth, Team Pain, and NAHF members will select the final design. Multiple submissions are allowed. All submissions must be submitted via the CaFE website. For additional information, contact Director Michael Stricker at (303) 450-8727 or [email protected]. The deadline for submission is June 10, 2011.
