About This Call
Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF), acting on behalf of the City of Northglenn, invites proposals from artists (individual or teams) to design, fabricate, and install a site-specific, permanent public art installation in the new City Hall primary public area in Northglenn, CO. The commission budget is up to $250,000. Design, materials, fabrication, installation, travel, and any other project costs must fit within this budget.
The primary public area is a large open space partially open to the floor level above and connected to Council Chambers, community event/meeting rooms, and main offices for city staff and leadership. The selected artist or team will be integrated into the building design at an early stage to create cohesiveness between architecture and public art. The mounting type (wall, ceiling, floor, or hung) has yet to be determined. Inspiration may be drawn from the building's Net Zero, Sustainability, and Biophilic goals and environmental aesthetics. Proposals will be reviewed by site stakeholders including NAHF members, Northglenn City Council, residents, and City staff. The winner will be selected by August 2022. Finalists will be required to interview in-person or online. Colorado artists will receive preferential consideration.
Submissions must include portfolio examples relevant to the project, sufficient information demonstrating ability to fulfill the scope, proven record of working with engineers and providing engineering documentation, proven record of working with dynamic stakeholders during design, and complete answers to all required questions. Work samples must include 3-5 images and up to 1 video. All submissions must be made via the CaFE website. Eligibility is open to regional artists/teams regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental ability. Artists must be 18 years or older and able to provide insurance and stamped engineering drawings. A U.S. mailing address on W9 is required. Timeline: Contract Award – September 2022; Design – Fall 2022-2023; Fabrication/Installation – Fall 2023/Winter 2024; Completion – March 2024. For questions, contact Director Michael Stricker at [email protected] or (303) 450-8727.
