Northern Skies - April 2026 Online Exhibition

Hunter Guise Gallery is accepting submissions for the Northern Skies online exhibition, running April 1-30, 2026. This international call invites artists to submit 2D visual artwork inspired by the theme of Northern Skies—aurora, starfields, winter twilight, moonlit clouds, polar light, and atmospheric drama. Work may be representational or abstract but must reflect the exhibition theme. A curator's challenge option invites artists to make the sky dominant, comprising at least 70% of the composition or unmistakably the main subject.

Eligibility is open internationally to artists 18 and older. All submitted work must be original and created by the submitting artist. Accepted media includes all 2D visual media (oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolour, mixed media, etc.) but excludes photography and sculpture. No AI-generated work, workshop pieces, or work created under instruction will be accepted. Up to 100 selected entries will be featured on the gallery website for the duration of the show.

Submission fees are $12 CAD for the first image and $11 CAD for each additional image, with a maximum of 3 images per artist. Image files must be JPG or PNG format, minimum 960 px on the longest side, maximum 1920 px resolution. File naming format is mandatory: Firstname-Lastname-Title-Size-Medium-Price (example: Sue-Smith-PineTree-25x20-Oil-375.jpg). The submission deadline is March 25, 2026, and selected artists will be notified by March 30, 2026. Awards include cash prizes, Curator's Choice credits, and entry credits to future exhibitions. A 25% commission applies to sales, with the artist responsible for shipping and insurance. Susan Hunter Guise will curate the exhibition.
