About This Call
North Peoria Public Art is a public art commission opportunity administered by the Peoria Arts Commission. Artists are invited to submit applications for consideration.
Application materials must be submitted to the Peoria Arts Commission, 9875 N. 85th Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345, Attention: André Licardi. Required materials include: a statement of interest, qualifications and ideas for the project (not to exceed two pages); a resume or bibliographical summary focusing on the applicant's career as an artist and past experience (not to exceed two pages); 8-20 JPEG images with an accompanying list including photograph number, description, title, year, location, medium and dimensions; and optional sketches or ideas for the project (8-1/2" by 11"). The selection committee will review submitted materials and make recommendations to the City Council. Up to three semi-finalists will be invited to develop complete proposals, including drawings, models, and specific information on scale, medium, installation, and budget. Semi-finalists are required to make a presentation of their final proposals and will receive a stipend to help compensate for out-of-pocket costs.
Proposals will be evaluated based on artistic merit and quality of artwork, the artist's past experience with similar commissions, likelihood of completing the work within the given time period and budget, sensitivity and understanding of the site and surroundings, and attention to safety, durability and maintenance requirements. For projects on municipal property or in the public right-of-way, artists must coordinate placement and construction with the Development & Engineering Department. Design professionals and general contractors licensed by the State of Arizona must be used. Artists must account for all services, construction costs, permit fees, and process durations in their final proposal. For more information, contact André Licardi at 623-773-5193 or [email protected].
