About This Call
North Carolina Glass 2025 features work by artists across North Carolina whose primary medium is glass. The exhibition continues Western Carolina University's long tradition of glass-focused exhibitions dating back to the 1970s. Artists currently living and working in North Carolina and actively producing work in glass are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility: Open to professional artists working in glass, ages 18 and older, who are living and working in North Carolina. Exhibited artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2023. Eligible entries include blown, flameworked, kiln-formed, cast, slumped, and laminated glass, or other hot glass techniques. Mixed media works, cold processes, and non-traditional techniques will be considered if glass features prominently in the entry. Work samples: 1-12 images and 0-4 videos required.
Selected works will be on view at the WCU Fine Art Museum from August 12 through December 5, 2025. An exhibition reception will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Each exhibiting artist will receive a $450 exhibition stipend. A full color catalogue will include at least one work by each exhibiting artist, artist information, and a short essay from the curators. Exhibiting artists will receive a complimentary copy of this catalogue.
Artwork must be delivered to the WCU Fine Art Museum no later than Friday, July 18, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Objects may be hand delivered or shipped. The Museum's insurance covers works once received and a receipt is issued. All costs related to artwork transit are the responsibility of the artist. Artwork must arrive ready to display. 2-D or wall-mounted works must be equipped with D-Rings, cleats, or other suitable hardware. 3-D work must stand on its own or come equipped with an appropriate mount. Artwork must not contain highly flammable materials, dense organic matter, or strong-smelling materials. The Museum reserves the right to refuse entry to any artwork that may compromise safety, preservation, accessibility requirements, or that exceeds accommodable gallery size.
