About This Call

The Raleigh Fine Arts Society invites North Carolina artists to submit work for the 2024 North Carolina Artists Exhibition. Applicants must be North Carolina residents, age 18 or older. Students enrolled in out-of-state institutions are eligible if classified as North Carolina residents and providing a valid NC address. Artists may submit up to two original works created after July 1, 2022. Works must not exceed 70 inches in any dimension (including frame) and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Artworks previously selected for Raleigh Fine Arts Society exhibitions are ineligible. All work must be the sole property of the submitting artist and available for purchase; artists receive 70% of sales price with the Society receiving 30%.

The entry fee is $35.00 for up to two works and is nonrefundable. Entries must be submitted online through CaFÉ beginning May 1, 2024, with all entries and fees finalized by 5:00 p.m. on June 15, 2024. Submissions require 1-2 digital images (minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 dpi resolution, maximum 5MB file size). Artists must provide medium information and artist statements (first person) and biographical information (third person) totaling no more than 200 words combined. All entries are juried from digital images; awards will be selected from original works.

The juror is Jason Rosenfeld, Ph.D., Professor of Art History at Marymount Manhattan College and Senior Writer and Editor-at-Large at The Brooklyn Rail. Awards totaling $10,000 will be presented: one $5,000 Betsy J. Sykes Award, one $3,000 award from the Joyce Wilkins Pope Endowment, and two $1,000 Juror's Choice Awards. The exhibition will be held at the Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh for five weeks, with an Opening Reception and Art Sale on September 29, 2024, and closing November 4, 2024. Selected works must be delivered September 19-20, 2024, or shipped prepaid. Unsold works must be picked up November 19, 2024, or will be returned via prepaid shipping. A catalogue featuring selected artists will be published and available at the opening reception and during the exhibition.
