North by Northwest Art Show

Yellowstone Art Museum presents the North by Northwest (NXNW) Art Exhibition, running July 18 – October 10, 2019. Any artist residing in the United States may enter. All work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited at the Yellowstone Art Museum.

The competition is open to the following categories: Painting, Drawing, Graphic Arts, Collage, Sculpture, Photography, and Mixed Media. Entries must not exceed 72 inches in any direction and/or 150 pounds. No entry that requires the artist to be present for moving or assembly will be accepted. Work that is hung on the wall must be hung using D-rings or a wire, with hardware installed prior to delivery. Once pieces have been submitted, they cannot be altered or sold until final notification of status in the show. Work that arrives significantly altered or different from accepted images will be immediately disqualified.

The entry fee is $45.00, which entitles entrants to submit up to two entries. Payment by check is available; checks must be received at YAM no later than May 10, 2019, to be eligible for jurying. Works selected for exhibition will be received hand-delivered or shipped prepaid from June 11 – July 11, 2019, during YAM hours (Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM). All works accepted for exhibition will be insured while on the premises at a value agreeable to the artist and YAM, with a maximum insurance value of $8,000. The YAM will not be responsible for insuring work in transit or works unclaimed after December 31, 2019.

Exhibited work may be claimed starting October 11, 2019, during YAM hours. Artists must schedule a pickup appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Shipped work will be returned in the method it was received, unless otherwise specified by the artist. All shipping costs and liability for damage are the responsibility of the artist. The YAM takes a 20% commission for the sale of works from this exhibition. Purchase and merit awards, underwritten by individuals, corporations, foundations, and philanthropic organizations, will be presented at the Opening Reception on July 18, 2019. The juror will judge entries blindly, without knowledge of the artist's identity. Juror will select awards on July 17, 2019, after reviewing actual entries. All awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. Entries receiving purchase awards will become part of YAM's Community Collection.
