About This Call
Nor'Easter: The NBMAA 53rd Annual Juried Members Exhibition is the New Britain Museum of American Art's opportunity to expose contemporary visual arts to a wide audience. This prominent showcase in the Northeast region highlights the exceptional work of emerging and established artists in all media. The exhibition runs September 21-October 8, 2023, with a reception and awards ceremony on Saturday, September 23, 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Eligibility: National and International artists 18 years or older with current NBMAA membership. Original works accepted in all media, executed during the past two years and never previously exhibited at this Museum. Up to three works per artist may be submitted, with a maximum of one work per artist selected. Entry fee is $20.00 for the first piece and $10.00 per piece thereafter (up to three total works). Submissions accepted only through CaFÉ before the July 28, 2023 deadline.
Artwork Guidelines: Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed; maximum 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and 150 pounds. Installations must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Artists must provide equipment for video or sound work. The Museum prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, sprays, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants or animals, hazardous materials, or decaying materials. Shipped artwork must arrive by September 11, 2023, and must include return postage. Juror: Fritz Horstman, curator and Education Director at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. Prizes: First Prize $1,000, Second Prize $500, Third Prize $250, plus Juror's Award and Visitor's Choice (upgraded membership to Friend's Circle level).
