About This Call
The New Britain Museum of American Art invites national and international artists 18 years or older with current NBMAA membership to submit original works in all media for the 50th annual Nor'Easter Juried Exhibition. Works must have been executed during the past two years and never previously exhibited at this museum.
Up to three works per artist may be submitted, with a $10.00 entry fee per work. A maximum of one work per artist may be selected. Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed; the entire work must not exceed 84 inches in any dimension and cannot exceed 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and cannot exceed 150 pounds. Installations with complex procedures must be accompanied by detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Artists must provide equipment for video or sound work installations. The Museum prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, sprays, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, decaying materials, or anything deemed harmful to the collection.
Prizes include First Prize ($1,000), Second Prize ($500), Third Prize ($250), and two Juror's Award and Visitor's Choice awards offering upgraded membership to Friend's Circle level. The juror is Nancy Stuart, dean of the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. Exhibition dates, reception, and awards ceremony dates are to be determined.
