About This Call
Nor Easter is the NBMAA's 49th Annual Juried Members Exhibition, open to national artists 18 years or older with current NBMAA membership. Original works in all media executed during the past two years and never previously exhibited at the Museum are accepted. Up to three works per artist may be submitted, with a maximum of one work per artist selected for exhibition.
The exhibition runs June 22-July 14, 2019, with a reception and awards ceremony on June 23, 2019 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Prizes include First Prize ($1,000), Second Prize ($500), Third Prize ($250), Juror's Award (Upgraded Membership to Friend's Circle level), and Visitor's Choice (Upgraded Membership to Friend's Circle level). The juror is Nicholas Bell, Senior Vice President for Curatorial Affairs at Mystic Seaport Museum.
Entry fee is $10.00 per work. Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed; work cannot exceed 84 inches in any dimension or 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension or 150 pounds. Installations requiring assembly must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Artists must provide equipment for video or sound work. The Museum prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, spray, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, or decaying materials. Works must be delivered ready to hang/display by June 10, 2019 if shipped. The Museum will not be responsible for damage before, during, or after the exhibition. Sales of artwork are encouraged but not required; the Museum takes no commission and will not serve as a third party for sales.
