About This Call
The NBMAA invites national artists 18 years or older with current NBMAA membership to submit original works in all media executed during the past two years and never previously exhibited at the Museum. Up to three works per artist may be submitted, with a maximum of one work per artist selected for the exhibition.
Entry fee is $10.00 per work, with an additional $10.00 media fee for each additional piece. Work samples may include images, audio, or video (0-3 of each type, with a minimum of 1 and maximum of 3 total samples). Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed, not exceeding 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and 150 pounds. Installations requiring assembly must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Artists must provide equipment for video or sound work. The Museum prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, spray, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, decaying materials, or anything deemed harmful to the collection.
The exhibition runs April 29-May 28, 2017, with a reception and awards ceremony on April 30, 2017, 1-2:30 p.m. Prizes include First Prize ($1,000), Second Prize ($500), Third Prize ($250), Juror's Award (upgraded membership to Friend's Circle level), and Visitor's Choice (upgraded membership to Friend's Circle level). The juror is Sarah Fritchey, curator and gallery director at Artspace in New Haven. Accepted works must be delivered ready to hang/display. Artwork being shipped must include return postage received by May 28, 2017; the deadline for receipt of shipped artwork is April 7, 2017. The NBMAA takes no commission on artwork sales.
