NOËL NOIR

Vestige Concept Gallery presents NOËL NOIR, a winter contemporary exhibition showcasing works of art that prominently feature black and white colors. Artwork does not need to be representative of any holiday or religion, but may feature winter imagery, noir imagery (film/photography/mystery/deep contrast), and/or minimalist aspects. Work that is primarily black and white with a touch of complementary color is acceptable. Jewelry art or sculpture in metals with traditional metallic color tones (such as silver) is also acceptable. All artists are asked to consider how black and white and/or noir themes differentiate their practice. Works can be from any medium and should have sales appeal for the holiday season.

The gallery accepts artwork from any medium from Student, Emerging, Mid-Career, and Professional Artists. Work should follow and/or challenge the theme, can be evocative, and should be attractive for audiences and collectors. Sculptural and 3D works are encouraged. Video art cannot be shown at this time. The in-person opening reception is Saturday, November 18th, with the show running through December 31st.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18+ in the United States and Canada. Work must be original, ready to display, and not previously shown at Vestige Concept Gallery. All work must be for sale. No giclees or reproductions accepted unless the work itself is a giclee or digital work. Print works must have edition numbers. Applicants may submit up to 10 entries; the $29 application fee includes 2 entries, with $5 per additional entry. Application deadline is November 4th at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance by November 5th. Shipped work must arrive by November 16th. Local drop-offs are permitted but not on the day of the show, and not from more than 1 state (or 8 hours) away from Pittsburgh without prior approval. Vestige Concept Gallery retains a 30% commission on sales. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance. 2D work must not exceed 30 lbs including frame. Wall pieces must be securely wired and framed. Ornate and barn-style frames are subject to review and may be removed if deemed overwhelming or distracting.
