No Place to Show

In response to the Illinois State Fair eliminating the professional artist exhibition and competition, the Springfield Art Association has created an exhibition alternative: No Place to Show. Professional artists ages 21 and above who are residents of Illinois are invited to submit up to three works of art in any media. All work must be original and completed in the last three years.

The exhibition will run from July 15 through August 6, 2022 in the M. G. Nelson Gallery at the Springfield Art Association, located less than two miles from the Illinois State Fair grounds. A reception and awards presentation will be held on Friday, July 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. A total of $1,200 in prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, First, Second, Third Place, and two Honorable Mentions. Bob Sill, Director of Collections and Research at the Illinois State Museum, will serve as judge.

Entry fee is $15 (non-refundable). Artists may submit up to three works with one image per work. The electronic entry deadline is June 1, 2022. Notification of acceptance will be emailed on June 12, with a deadline for receipt of work on July 9. Work will be shipped out on August 10. The Springfield Art Association reserves the right to photograph all exhibited works for promotional and educational purposes.
