No Big Heads Self-Portrait Competition 2016

The University of Alaska Anchorage Student Union Gallery presents the 31st Annual No Big Heads, a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size.

Eligible entries are open to all artists. Works must be no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches in any direction, including framing and hanging materials. Entries must have been completed within the last three years and cannot have been exhibited in any previous UAA Student Union Gallery exhibition. Limit of two entries per person. Works accepted in all media. Weight limitation is 65 pounds. All pieces must arrive ready to hang or display. Entry fees are $20 per entry for the general public; UAA students with current identification pay $10 per entry. Fees are non-refundable.

Awards include $1000 for Best of Show and a summer 2017 solo exhibit at the UAA Student Union Gallery, plus $1000 in other cash prizes. The juror is Kiel Johnson, a Los Angeles-based artist working in drawings and sculpture. UAA encourages sales of work and charges a 10% commission. Mark NFS on your application if your work is not for sale. Submission deadline is Friday, October 7th at 11:59 pm MST. Notification of acceptance into final round of jurying is Tuesday, October 11th. All submissions must arrive by Thursday, October 20th. The exhibition opens Wednesday, October 26th with a reception from 4:00-6:00pm and awards ceremony at 4:30pm. The exhibition closes Wednesday, November 16th.
