No Big Heads Juried Show

The University of Alaska Anchorage Student Union Gallery presents the 33rd Annual No Big Heads Exhibition, a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size.

The exhibition is open to all artists. Works must be no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches in any direction, including framing and hanging materials. Entries must have been completed within the last three years and cannot have been exhibited in any previous UAA Student Union Gallery exhibition. Limit of two entries per person. Works accepted in all media. Weight limitation is 40 pounds. All pieces must arrive ready to hang or display. Entry fee is $20 per entry; UAA students with current identification receive a $10 discount. Additional images cost $20 per entry. Submissions must include a minimum of 1 and maximum of 12 total samples (1-6 images, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files).

Awards include $1000 for Best of Show and $1000 in other cash prizes. The juror is Elisabeth Higgins O'Connor. Submission deadline is September 21, 2018. Notification of acceptance into the final round occurs September 27. All physical submissions must arrive by October 15. The juror lecture is October 17 at 7:30 pm in Fine Arts Building Room 150. Exhibition opens October 18 with reception 5:00-7:00 pm and awards ceremony at 5:30 pm. Exhibition closes November 7. Local artists may pick up work November 8-9 between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Mail-in submissions will be mailed out November 9. UAA charges a 10% commission on sales; mark NFS on your application if work is not for sale. Fees are non-refundable.
