NJ State Council on the Arts: The College of New Jersey Brower Student Center Public Art Commission

The College of New Jersey is seeking artists for an art inclusion project at the renovated Brower Student Center in Ewing, New Jersey. The identified location for art is an 18' x 24' section of wall adjacent to the main entrance, facing a large northern terrace and the main academic sidewalk. The Brower Student Center serves as the centerpiece and primary community hub for the campus, providing meeting spaces, event spaces, collaborative study areas, and dining facilities.

The budget for this project is $120,000, which includes design, materials, fabrication, and installation of the artwork. Renovation is underway with a completion date of July 2017. Artists must submit 1-6 images as work samples. The selection process includes shortlisting (September 11, 2015), a project orientation meeting (September 24, 2015), shortlisted proposals due (October 12, 2015), interviews (October-November 2015), and artist contract award (February 2016), with art installation to be completed by April 2017.
