About This Call
This is an Expression of Interest (EOI) for a public art commission to design and coordinate art glass walls and doors for the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission. The project involves designing two glass wall and door sections, roughly 20' wide x 14' high, to be installed inside a building lobby at two locations. The selected artist will be responsible for design and coordination with the State's selected glazing contractor for fabrication and installation. The project budget is $150,000, all-inclusive, covering design, engineering services, materials, samples, transportation, insurance, documentation, signage, and installation coordination.
Applicants must submit a portfolio of past-completed work through CallForEntry.org, including: a letter summarizing interest and experience in public art, a list of at least 3 references for similar projects, artist resume, 4-6 photographs/images of public art installations (ideally similar projects or materials), and artist website links. The Art Selection Committee will shortlist artists to receive a formal request for proposals. Three selected finalists will each receive a $2,000 stipend for proposal preparation expenses and will participate in a virtual Q&A meeting on August 23rd to receive additional architectural drawings and project details.
Applicants must be regionally based, residing no more than 150 miles from the New Jersey border, and over 18 years old. Employees of the State of New Jersey are not eligible. Women and BIPOC artists are strongly encouraged to apply. Selected artists must register as a vendor with the State of New Jersey and follow the State's procurement processes, which may require fees for registration and certification. Anticipated installation is Spring 2026.
