About This Call
PrintHouston announces NEXT 2026, a contemporary print biennial held during PRINTHOUSTON 2026 Biennial. The organization seeks innovative and challenging works that transcend process and materials and present printmaking as a versatile and adaptable medium. Artists are invited to submit works using traditional printmaking techniques including lithography, relief, intaglio, monotype, and screenprint, as well as works using these techniques to create installations, ceramics, sculpture, and artists' books. The primary technique(s) used must be listed above.
The juror for NEXT 2026 is Phil Sanders, Founder/Director of PS Marlowe, a creative services consultancy firm based in Asheville, NC. Sanders is a leading collaborative master printer with over twenty years of experience educating, lecturing, and advocating for prints and their makers. He was formerly COO of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Director/Master Printer of Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in NYC, and Master Printer for Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE). Sanders' artwork is held in the public collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Yale University Art Gallery, among others.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the United States. Works must be original, not exceed 48 inches in any direction, be completed in the last two years, and not previously shown in Houston. No student work, reproductions, or photography. Entry fee is $35 for up to 3 entries. All accepted artists receive an exhibition catalog and 1 free year Artist Membership into PrintHouston, with invitation to participate in ThinkINK, the annual membership exhibition. Cash awards will be given. The exhibition will be held at ELLIO Fine Art, 3201 Allen Pkwy Suite 180, Houston, TX 77019.
