NEXT 2024

PrintHouston is pleased to announce NEXT 2024, a contemporary print biennial to be held during PRINTHOUSTON 2024. The organization seeks innovative and challenging works that transcend process and materials and present printmaking as a versatile and adaptable medium. Artists are invited to submit works using lithography, relief, intaglio, monotype, screenprint, or printmaking techniques applied to installations, ceramics, sculpture, and artists' books. Traditional techniques addressing contemporary themes are also welcome. The primary technique(s) used must be listed above, and works must be of excellent quality.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the United States. Works must be original, not exceed 48 inches in any direction, be completed in the last two years, and not previously shown in Houston. Student work, reproductions, and photography are not eligible. Collaborative work should be entered under only one artist's name. The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 entries. Artists may submit up to three images with an artist statement of no longer than 250 words. Selected artists will be required to submit a short biography, resume, and 300-dpi images by May 20 to [email protected].

The exhibition will be held at ELLIO Fine Art, 3201 Allen Pkwy Suite 180, Houston, TX 77019. Work must be shipped ready to hang with gallery framing and appropriate hanging hardware, or special display instructions for oversized works, installations, 3-D, video, and artists' books. Shipped artwork is due by June 5, with hand-delivery available June 6. The opening reception is June 14, 6-8 p.m., with a juror's talk and awards June 15, 1:30-2:30 p.m. The exhibition runs through July 6. Hand-delivered work pickup is July 7, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Ann Shafer, an independent curator specializing in prints and printmaking, will serve as juror. Cash awards will be presented. Ellio Fine Art reserves a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the artist.
