About This Call
Texas Photographic Society announces an online, open-themed collegiate student photo competition for college undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students of all skill levels. Students may submit up to 12 images, with each image judged independently. The show will be juried by Paul Thulin-Jimenez, Graduate Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of Photography and Film at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Eligibility is open to college students at least 18 years old enrolled in a college credit course (undergraduate or graduate) or continuing education/noncredit course. Any photographic-based work is welcome, including digital, silver, alternative processes, mixed media incorporating photography, collage, and book arts. Works previously exhibited in a TPS show are not eligible. Submit JPEG or JPG files only, minimum 1200 pixels on the longest side and 5 MB maximum. For each image, provide the title and process used.
Entry fee is $30 for 5 images, plus $6 for each additional image (up to 12 total). Students may also join TPS as a member at a discounted rate: $15 for 1 year (normally $20) or $33 for 3 years (normally $48). All entry and membership fees are nonrefundable. The juror will select 50 images for the online exhibition. Awards: First Place $300, Second Place $200, Third Place $100, and up to 5 Honorable Mentions. Selected images and student artists will be showcased on the TPS website gallery and promoted to the TPS community. Deadline for entry is April 24, 2020 at 10:59 p.m. CST (11:59 p.m. MST). Exhibiting artists will be announced May 1, 2020, when the online gallery opens.
