About This Call
The Art of New Jersey digital exhibition is a public art project at Newark Liberty Airport's Terminal A, designed to create a transformative customer experience and highlight the broad spectrum of talent, opportunity, and cultures in New Jersey. The next installment of this annual exhibition will feature artwork displayed in digital welcome banners spanning the departures area of Terminal A, with the exhibition unveiling in early 2024. Artists' names and artwork information will be included with the display.
The Port Authority Art Advisory Council will select approximately twenty (20) artists' work to be included in the exhibition. Selected artists will have their work displayed digitally in Terminal A for approximately one year, and their names and images will be shared through Munich Airport NJ, PANYNJ, and the State Arts Council's social media and communication platforms. Each selected artist will receive a $1,000 stipend in exchange for use of their work, and artists will retain copyright to their work.
The project seeks completed, 2-dimensional, still artworks in digital format. Submissions may include high-quality digital images of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, or work in native digital format. Moving images, films, animations, and performative work will not be considered. Work must be appropriate for public display and cannot be interpreted as political, sexual, or violent in nature, nor can it include logos or business signage of existing businesses or corporations. Artists must submit up to three (3) examples of completed work, along with a brief artist biography and questionnaire. Eligibility is open to artists/artist teams at least 18 years old who are current residents of New Jersey, with priority consideration given to artists residing in Newark and/or Elizabeth. Artists must be able to work collaboratively to provide requested digital image files in a timely manner. The selection committee will evaluate submissions based on artistic quality, potential to promote program goals, potential for positive community experiences, and feasibility of the submission. Notification of selections will be no later than December 30, 2023, with projects intended for display beginning in early 2024.
