About This Call

Munich Terminal One LLC and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts are presenting the Newark Airport Photography Inclusion Opportunity, accepting submissions from adult professional photographic artists who are current residents of New Jersey. Preference will be given to select one artist from each of the three geographic regions of the State: North (Sussex, Warren, Morris, Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Hudson Counties), Central (Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Union, Middlesex and Monmouth Counties), and South (Ocean, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic, and Cape May Counties). Artists are encouraged to submit photographic images of New Jersey locations and landscapes for consideration in a 3-5 year exhibit in the new Newark Airport Terminal A Concourse.

Selected artists will receive a $10,000 stipend for use of their work. Munich Terminal One/PANYNJ will print the selected images, install them as wraps on display locations, update the wraps as needed during the exhibition period, and provide promotion. The project will be unveiled in Spring 2022 and remain on display for 3-5 years. Artists' names and image information will be included with the display exhibition. Up to three artists will be selected. Artists will retain copyright to their work.

Eligibility: Artists must be at least 18 years old, current New Jersey residents, have verifiable professional exhibition or publication history, and be legally able to complete a contract with PANYNJ. Non-photographic works, moving images, and performative work will not be considered. Work must represent New Jersey geographies and landscapes and be appropriate for public display. Submissions should fall within curatorial themes of New Jersey's diverse people, places and geographies; New Jersey as a year-round destination; and the future of New Jersey with themes of Innovation, Diversity, Entertainment and Location. Work that could be interpreted as political, sexual or violent in nature will not be considered. Artists must submit up to 6 examples of completed photographic work in digital format, along with an artist CV, references for previous exhibitions/publications or commissions, and confirmation of New Jersey residency. Submission deadline: November 15, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Selection decisions will be announced by the end of January 2022. Contact: Danielle Bursk, Director of Artist Services, New Jersey State Council on the Arts, at [email protected] or 609-633-1184.
