About This Call

Munich Terminal One LLC and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts present the Newark Airport Digital Art Exhibition: The Journey of Surprises. This opportunity accepts submissions from adult visual artists who are current residents of New Jersey, with priority given to artists from Newark and Elizabeth. Selected artists will have their work displayed in a year-long digital exhibition in the new EWR Airport Terminal A, beginning Spring 2022.

Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for use of their work. PANYNJ/Munich Terminal One LLC will provide image upload to the digital gallery space and promotion of the exhibition. Artists' names and image information will be included with the digital display. Work will be promoted through Munich's, PANYNJ's, and the State Arts Council's social media and communication platforms. Artists retain copyright to their work.

Submissions should be completed, 2-dimensional, still artworks in digital format. Acceptable work includes high-quality digital images of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, or native digital formats. Moving images, films, animations, and performative work will not be considered. Work should reflect the curatorial themes: the story of New Jersey and its people from pre-colonial to contemporary communities, and New Jersey as a year-round destination with cultural, historic, and innovative opportunities. Work that could be interpreted as political, sexual, or violent in nature will not be considered. Approximately 20 artists will be selected. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, legally able to complete a contract with PANYNJ, and current New Jersey residents. Submit up to 3 examples of completed work, a brief statement about connection to Newark and/or Elizabeth, a brief artist bio, and confirmation of New Jersey residency. Selection decisions will be announced by the end of December 2021.
