New Works 2025

The Floyd Center for the Arts invites artists from across the region to submit work for New Works 2025, a juried exhibition showcasing the bold directions, fresh perspectives, and evolving techniques of today's regional artists. This exhibition investigates and celebrates new media, methods, and creative journeys artists are embracing—whether through experimentation with unfamiliar materials, innovative processes, or fresh interpretations of traditional forms. By highlighting work created within the past two years, New Works 2025 reflects the vitality of the regional arts community and honors the commitment artists make to push boundaries, take risks, and expand their practice.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18+ living within a 150-mile radius of the Floyd Center for the Arts. All visual media are welcome. Submit up to 3 works completed within the past two years. Video entries must include the digital file, display equipment, and clear installation directions. Artists of 3D works must provide display and/or instructions. Entry fee: $25 (non-refundable). The juror is Brian Holcombe, Curator at the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech. Awards: First Place ($200), Second Place ($150), Third Place ($100), and People's Choice ($50).

Important Dates: Call opens August 15, 2025. Deadline to apply: September 12, 2025. Jury: September 15-19, 2025. Notifications sent: September 22, 2025. Artwork delivery window: September 22-26, 2025. Exhibition dates: October 11 – November 29, 2025. Opening reception: October 18, 4-6pm. Artists are responsible for delivery/shipping and return shipping. A 40% commission on sales is retained by the Floyd Center for the Arts, with 60% paid to the artist via ACH payment. Artwork must be available for the full duration of the exhibition; no substitutions allowed.
