New River Art Biennial 2019

The 15th New River Art Biennial Exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older living within 170 miles of Blacksburg, VA. Artists may submit up to three original artworks executed within the past two years. All fine arts and fine craft media are accepted including painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, video, and photography. Sound and performance works and handicrafts are not eligible.

The entry fee is $40, payable online through CAFÉ or by personal check made out to BRAA and mailed to PO Box 525, Blacksburg, VA 24063. Blacksburg Regional Art Association members can use a $5 coupon to lower the fee to $35. The application deadline is March 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Applicants must submit up to nine total images (up to three images per work for up to three works), a brief biography, and a statement about the submitted work(s) (maximum 1000 characters). All works must be shown in their entirety in at least one image.

Accepted works must be hand-delivered to the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech, 190 Alumni Mall, Blacksburg, VA 24061 on May 22-24, 10am-5pm, or May 25 by appointment. The exhibition runs June 13 - August 3, 2019 at the Moss Arts Center. Notifications will be sent no later than April 1, 2019. Prizes include: Grand Prize $650, First Award of Excellence $300, Second Award of Excellence $200, Third Award of Excellence $200, and People's Choice $100.
