New River Art Biennial 2017 Juried Exhibition

Floyd Center for the Arts, located in Floyd, Virginia, invites visual media artists within 150 miles of Floyd to submit artwork for the New River Art Biennial 2017. This is the 14th New River Art Biennial exhibition, which rotates every two years between Floyd Center for the Arts, the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley (FACNRV) in Pulaski, and the Blacksburg Regional Art Association.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years of age or older living within 150 miles of Floyd Center for the Arts. Work must be original and executed within the past two years. All fine arts and fine craft media are accepted, including painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, photography, time-based/new media, and installation. Handicrafts are not eligible. Video, audio, and performing works are not accepted. Artists may submit up to three artworks. Entry fee is $40 (or $35 for current Floyd Center members with coupon code MEM). Submit digital images via www.callforentry.org showing the artwork in its entirety, with optional detailed images. Up to nine images total may be submitted for three artworks.

Artwork must arrive between May 29 and June 2, 2017, or be dropped off in person June 2-3, 10am-4pm. Exhibition dates are June 9 through August 5, 2017, with opening reception Saturday, June 17, 5-7pm. Artwork will be selected by juror Amy Shawley of Virginia. Prizes include: Grand Prize $500 (Nadine Allen Memorial Fund), First Award of Excellence $200 (Floyd Center for the Arts), Second Award of Excellence $200 (Blacksburg Regional Arts Association), Third Award of Excellence $200 (Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley), and People's Choice $100 (The Artful Lawyer). Additional prizes and honorable mentions will be awarded. Notifications will be sent no later than May 12, 2017. Artists must provide return shipping labels; Floyd Center will not pay for return shipping.
