New River Art Biennial 2015

The New River Art Biennial is a juried exhibition rotating between the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley in Pulaski, Va., the Blacksburg Regional Art Association, and the Jacksonville Center for the Arts in Floyd. The 2015 exhibition, the 13th edition of the biennial, will be coordinated by the Pulaski organization and displayed at its 21 West Main Street gallery from October 9 to November 20, 2015.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older living in the counties of Roanoke, Montgomery, Wythe, Pulaski, Floyd and Giles and the cities of Radford, Roanoke and Salem. Work must be original and no older than January 1, 2013. All fine arts media including painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, textile, glass, mixed media and photography are eligible. No kits, handicrafts, or audio/visual work. Submitted works should not exceed 3 feet (unframed) in any dimension or 25 pounds. All framing must focus on quality presentation; no sawtooth hangers will be accepted. The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 works (non-refundable). Applications are accepted online through www.callforentry.org. Digital image files must be in JPEG format, maximum 3MB, 72 ppi resolution, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, formatted in baseline standard JPG and RGB or sRGB.

Applications are taken July 29 through September 21. Notification of acceptance/non-acceptance will be sent on or about September 23. Accepted pieces must be delivered October 5-6, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (call 540-980-7363 for special arrangements). The reception and awards ceremony is October 16, 6-8 p.m. Pieces must be picked up after the show ends on November 23-24, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (call 540-980-7363 for special arrangements). The juror is Rebecca Ghezzi, printmaker and manager of the P. Buckley Moss Gallery in Blacksburg, Va. All works must be hand delivered and retrieved. Artists are responsible for any insurance protection desired. The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley will handle all sales with a 30% commission.
