About This Call
The New River Art 2013, 12th Juried Biennial Exhibition, will take place October 2 - November 7 at Perspective Gallery, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older living within 150 miles of Blacksburg, Virginia. Work must be original and no older than January 1, 2011. All fine arts media including painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, textile, mixed media, and photography are eligible. No kits or handicrafts.
Jurors include Michael Haga (College of Charleston, School of the Arts), Robin Boucher (Virginia Tech, Perspective Gallery), and Jeffrey Allison (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts). The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 works (non-refundable). Applications must be submitted through www.callforentry.org by August 29 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. Digital files must be in JPEG format, maximum 3MB, 72 ppi resolution, no fewer than 1920 pixels on the longest side, formatted in baseline standard JPG and RGB or sRGB. Finalists will be notified on or about September 10. Delivery of work is September 27-28, with an opening reception on October 18.
Approximate cash awards total $1,500, including First Place ($500 Nadine Allen Award), Second Place, Third Place, Most Innovative Award ($200), two Honorable Mentions ($50 each), and People's Choice Award ($100). The Nadine Allen Award honors a former BRAA member and artist who was instrumental in establishing New River Art.
