About This Call
The New Jersey Division of Taxation is seeking to purchase completed two-dimensional artworks for display in the new State Taxation Building in Trenton, located at 3 John Fitch Way in the Capital Complex. This modern office building will primarily be used by Division of Taxation office workers, with some limited public access. The Art Selection Committee, comprised of community members, State workers, and arts experts, will select multiple completed two-dimensional artworks to purchase for display in the building's elevator lobbies and other interior spaces.
Eligibility is limited to New Jersey residents, age 18 or older, who are living permanent residents of Mercer County or maintain a permanent art studio address in Mercer County. State of New Jersey employees are not eligible. Artists may submit up to 6 images of completed, two-dimensional works (painting, photography, collage, mixed-media). All work must be framed, wired, and gallery ready. Work must be no larger than 84 inches in any direction and cost no more than $1,000 per piece. Artwork must be appropriate for display in a public setting; work that is political, violent, or sexual in nature will not be considered. Work depicting money or currency is not of interest.
The project has a total purchase budget of $7,000 and intends to purchase multiple works from several artists. Submissions must be made through callforentry.org by July 26, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The Art Selection Committee will review submissions and contact all artists in early September with status updates. Shortlisted works will be reviewed in person by the committee in October, and final purchase decisions will be made. All artwork viewed in person must be picked up by the artist, and final purchase arrangements and delivery will be coordinated.
