New Jersey Arts Annual 2020

The New Jersey Arts Annual is a series of exhibitions highlighting the state's visual and performing artists, held in partnership with major museums around New Jersey. The 2020 exhibition takes place at the Morris Museum from April 2 through September 6, 2020.

The exhibition theme is "Dissonance," which suggests discord, tension, instability, and conflict. Artists are encouraged to express this concept through any artistic medium, including visual art, craft, design, performance, new media, poetry, and time-based works. The theme can be explored through treatment of color, choice of materials, texture, juxtaposition of words, choreography of movement, or other artistic approaches.

Eligibility: All artists over age 21 who live or work in New Jersey may apply. Works must have been completed within the past five years, be available for the complete exhibition duration, and not have been previously shown in a New Jersey museum or statewide exhibition. The exhibition accommodates traditional and contemporary media including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, printmaking, performance, poetry, film, installation, electronic, and sound work. There is no entry fee. Applicants must submit up to seven total work samples (images, video, or audio) online via CAFÉ at www.callforentry.org, along with a current résumé, artist biography, and artist's statement (150 words or less) for each piece. Images must be JPEG/JPG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB. Audio files must be AIFF, WAV, XMF, or MP3 format, under 10 MB. Video files must be MOV, MP4, WMV, 3GP, AVI, ASF, MPG, M2T, MKV, or M2TS format, under 100 MB. All submissions will receive direct consideration by the jurors, and artists may also be selected by invitation. Applicants may be requested to submit additional materials.
