About This Call
New Fibers 2014 is the sixth national juried exhibition sponsored by the Fiber Arts Network of Michigan, held at the Eastern Michigan University Gallery in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The exhibition features contemporary fiber art in a broad range of forms, including textiles rooted in traditional and contemporary approaches, as well as works in sculpture, conceptual, video, and installation art using all types of materials. The juror is Brooks Harris Stevens, a practicing artist and Associate Professor in the Fibers program at Eastern Michigan University.
Artists may submit up to three works. Each work should be represented by clearly focused, well-lit, high resolution digital images in JPEG format, CMYK, with a maximum file size of 3 MB. One full view and one detail image are required, labeled with title and shot type (e.g., 1a.title.full or 1b.title.detail). Images sized at 1920 pixels on the longest side will download easily. Video submissions have a maximum file size of 100 MB. Entry fee is $30 for FAN members and $40 for non-members. Submission is open to all artists 18 years or older living in the United States. Current work completed after December 2011 created in any fiber medium and/or using fiber techniques is eligible. Accepted artwork cannot have been previously exhibited at any gallery on the Eastern Michigan University campus.
Key dates: Entry deadline is June 30, 2014; juror notification is August 1, 2014; work receipt deadline is October 13, 2014; exhibition opens October 27, 2014 and closes December 10, 2014; opening reception and awards are November 5, 2014, 4-7 pm; work will be returned in early January 2015. Shipping and insurance to and from the gallery are the artist's responsibility. All work must be shipped in sturdy, reusable containers with a pre-paid return shipping label.
